Maneki Neko Gardens in Ellabell, Georgia, is located on 11 acres in a country setting. Scott and Dominique Elliott grow more than 10,000 orchids and too many daylilies to count. Orchids are sold under the Maneki Hill brand and daylilies are sold under Scott Elliott Daylilies.
Maneki Hill Orchids specializes in miniature Cattleyas, Catasetum hybrids and mounted small and miniature orchids. Scott and Sue hybridize and sell their own orchids as well as an extensive collection of orchids from Fred Clarke at Sunset Valley Orchids. Scott Elliott Daylilies specializes in show-quality double, spider and unusual form daylilies and any combination of the above with an emphasis on daylilies that will grow well over a wide geographical area. Scott and Dominique also hybridize a large number of small and miniature daylilies, and a few extra large dayilies, usually by mistake. Basically, they work with any form of daylily, except large, fluffy, full-form singles. Their daylilies are grown in the heat of Southeast Georgia, and are field-tested in Wisconsin and Michigan. All daylilies are field grown and NEVER enter our greenhouses. Cold and heat tender seedlings are allowed to die and are eliminated from the program. Scott Elliott Daylilies has registered 227 cultivars earning a combined 28 Junior Citations, 151 ADS Achievement Medals, the Stout Silver Medal, seven Awards of Merit, 19 Honorable Mention awards, two Ophelia Taylor Horticultural Awards, 178 bests-in-section, 36 bests-in-show, five Ida Munson Awards, three Annie T. Giles Awards, three Early Season Bloom Awards, two Harris Olson Spider Awards, one Lambert/Webster Award, one Eugene S. Foster Award, one David Hall Memorial Award, two Georgia Hybridizer’s Awards and the Georgia Doubles Appreciation Award. Scott served as President of the American Daylily Society from 2020-2023. He is the author of dozens of articles on daylily science and culture. He is also the editor/author of Double Daylilies: Twice the Possibilities, Double Daylilies: Twice the Fun, Small and Miniature Daylilies, the ADS Daylily Exhibitions Handbook, and Judging Daylilies in the Garden. Scott is a well-traveled speaker, flying more than 100,000 miles each year for daylily club and regional meetings. In addition to their own registered daylily cultivars, they grow approximately 800 named cultivars from other hybridizers, mostly used for their hybridizing program. The remaining few thousand daylilies are, for the most part, seedlings in some stage of development. "We are not open to the public, meaning we do not have regular garden hours. That being said, we would love to have you drop by for a visit. We host numerous visitors and bus tours each year. Please call ahead to make sure we are available to show you around. Our peak bloom is between about May 15 and June 15. We ship daylilies April 1-October 1 and orchids year-round, depending on weather. We do not ship internationally."
